The Montclair Environmental Society is a small organization with limited resources. Thankfully, a recently obtained grant has allowed us to create the position of full-time Environmental Advisor.
Candidates for this position should have at least a Masters Degree in Environmental Studies, Biology, Earth Studies, Geology, Chemistry, or a related field. Additionally, the ideal candidate would have at least three years experience in non-profit work, environmental improvements, outreach, and education.
In this position, the ideal candidate would be expected to identify specific environmental concerns in the surrounding area and craft solutions to the problem. The candidate would be responsible for the creation and scientific evaluation of all educational and outreach materials, and be willing to give presentations to local community organizations (including, but not limited to: schools, churches, activist groups, and other environmental groups). The ideal candidate would also be responsible for assisting the MES manager in administrative affairs, outreach activities, strategy planning, and communication management.
The Montclair Environmental Society also seeks three seasonal interns, who are expected to work with MES during either the Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters. Interns should be studying a relevant academic discipline, show a strong commitment to environmental betterment, and be willing to engage in hands-on field-work and outreach. Academic credit should be given for the internship, and a small stipend for meals and travel will be awarded on a bi-weekly basis.
